Nyrstar is an international metals company, with a market leading position in zinc and lead. The company has more than 4,000 employees, with more than 600 in the zinc smelters in Balen and Pelt. They wanted to expand that large team by adding 20 motivated operators with experience in an industrial or technical environment. To find them, they decided to organize a job weekend. And we were allowed to take care of the registrations.
A challenging environment. A warm team. Training opportunities. And due appreciation for your input. That's working at Nyrstar. In order to show all these advantages to potential new employees, the company set up a job weekend. After registering, candidates were invited to visit Nyrstar for an initial introductory interview. If that went well, they were invited to the job weekend. Did they click? Then a permanent contract was immediately on the table.
Together with the HR and communications team at NYRSTAR, we developed a clear key message: "A permanent contract as an operator?" We translated that message into a no-nonsense and clear campaign. Employees were given name tags and car stickers to facilitate ambassadorship.
Offline, we went to work with bus affixes on strategically chosen connections, a half-page ad in The Sunday, 20-square-meter affixes in the neighborhood and beer tickets in local bars and restaurants. Online, we reached candidates with Facebook ads, Google Display ads and YouTube prerolls. Team Nyrstar reinforced the campaign with the necessary PR buzz.
To optimize the candidates' experience, we put our efforts into low-threshold registration, each time tailored to our carefully selected media. Registration was possible via text message, a lead form on Facebook or the registration form on the campaign site. On that customized site, candidates could also find all the information about the job weekend.
The numbers don't lie. Through Facebook alone, we counted nearly 250,000 impressions with nearly 35,000 people. On YouTube, the campaign was shown 1,300,000 times. And on Google, Nyrstar appeared at the top of search results more than 21,000 times.
The campaign site received nearly 5,000 unique visitors and registered 240 candidates. In addition, we collected another 104 registrations via text message and 46 via the lead form. After the usual deduplication, we landed on a whopping 340 unique registrations. All that was left for Nyrstar to do was to choose the best 20 candidates. So a great campaign, with an even better result for Nyrstar.
