1. One size doesn't fit all

The one-size-fits-all approach is finally a thing of the past in Belgium as well. Copy-paste job postings make as little impact as cliché opening lines. In 2023, you tailor your offering based on your ideal candidate and their expectations, communicate where your target audience shows interest, and provide each candidate with a pleasant application process.

2. From 'we seek' to 'we offer'

Headlines such as "Wanted" and "We are recruiting" give way to concrete, compelling offers. Show interest in who you are looking for and explain why your offer is for them. Organizations that focus on this will also more easily entice better candidates in 2023.

3. Keep expanding your horizons

Encouraging internal mobility, more diverse and inclusive workplaces, hiring differently and elsewhere, flexible work regimes, creating a work environment where everyone feels welcome and valued: HRM will continue to face enormous challenges in 2023. In internal and external communications, organizations will have to broaden their view and dare to think beyond the usual embellishment tactics.

4. The forest and the trees in external communication

International players consolidated their position in regional markets. Local media adapted and sought new opportunities, with success. Will 2023 be the year when employers discover the right balance in the unprecedentedly large communication offering? Vigilance remains necessary: no month goes by without new challengers or adjusted rules. Will we also see a revival of offline and out-of-home advertising in labor market communication this year? Let those classic love letters come.

5. Threshold-free job applications

Even the most rigid recruitment tools will no longer be able to stubbornly cling to complicated and outdated online application procedures. But it doesn't stop there. Candidates who have to wait a long time for feedback and follow-up drop out. The difficult job market obliges recruiters to offer a smooth and enjoyable candidate experience that convinces, stimulates and pays off.

6. Onboardings get even better

Do you remember your honeymoon at your new employer? And the weeks before and after? Did you feel that excitement and couldn't wait to share your experiences during your first working days? 2023 will be the year when onboardings are further optimized and refined. A pleasant first employee experience not only makes employees stay longer but also stimulates and facilitates the indispensable ambassadorship.

7. From satisfied employees to ambassadors

We will see more investment in an attractive and enjoyable work environment, maintaining the right culture, showing appreciation and encouraging ambassadorship. Internal communications, referral programs, storytelling and content marketing will have a more prominent place in any employer branding strategy. Because that's how you turn a satisfied employee into an enthusiastic ambassador.

8. Bye bye internal walls of separation

Communications and HRM will become even more intertwined in 2023. Employer branding and recruitment marketing are shared interests. That forces them to grant each other successes (and budget) and dare to take steps together. Will 2023 also be the year that employer branding claims its deserved place between corporate and customer branding?

9. Technology and data

Employers will make better use of technology and data to improve HRM and communication, simplify and speed up operations. In 2023, AI will also really break through to the general public. OpenAI's ChatGPT is already charming and promising for future developments. Data will claim an even more important role in (communication) choices, monitoring and assessing success. The tools and technology have been around for a long time, will their use break through in Belgium as well?

10. Employer branding as part of corporate strategy

Employer branding will become a crucial part of business strategy. Employers will invest more in attracting, retaining, engaging, and motivating talent. This is the only way to gain a competitive advantage in the labor market and achieve your business objectives more effectively, efficiently, and quickly.

Love for talent

In summary: Show love for talent, both for your current and future employees. "Love for talent" sounds much better than the dreaded "War for talent," right? It's also more enjoyable to work with and serves as a motivator to take steps, push boundaries, and keep the work fun. And, of course, it’s also much more effective because love conquers all, right?
